P-Valley season 3 welcomed seven recurring cast members for a richer narrative

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the Starz drama P-Valley season 3 since its previous season ended in 2022. Following the 2023 WGA strikes, production of its third season was suspended for around a year before finally resuming in May 2024.

Since its debut in 2020, P-Valley has captured viewers' attention with its detailed depiction of life at The Pynk, a strip club in the fictional town of Chucalissa, Mississippi. The show explores its dancers' and patrons' personal challenges, aspirations, and resiliency. Based on a play by Katori Hall, who also serves as the showrunner, the show's main protagonist is Uncle Clifford, a gender-neutral person who oversees The Pynk with an unusual mix of compassion and toughness.

For its third installment, P-Valley is upgrading some of its supporting cast members to series regulars while adding seven new recurring characters to the roster. Here is everything we know about the new cast so far.

Nicholas G. Sims, De’Adre Aziza and more join P-Valley season 3 as recurring characters

In its much-anticipated third season, P-Valley on Starz presents a new range of dynamic characters that further animates an already colorful tapestry. As per Deadline Hollywood, Nicholas G. Sims takes on the role of Calvin, an ardent member of Chucalissa’s oldest gang, The Chief-Fi-Chiefs.

De’Adre Aziza also joins as Red, a formidable first lady in the enemy camp known as Hurt Village Hustlas which brings out power struggles and hidden plots. Detective Sykes is played by Brandon J Dirden who plays a law-abiding official bent on solving the rising crime rates in Chucalissa, thereby promising to bring suspense and drama to law enforcement for this show.

Moritz J Williams has joined the cast as Chance, the new Sweeper at The Pynk, apparently causing a stir at the club. Sage (Chaz Hodges) and Elaine (rapper Bella Blaq) are two employees working under the enigmatic Roulette (Gail Bean), while Sage’s quirkiness and Elaine’s brazenness should make for interesting exchanges with others.

Jay Jones reprises his role as Prince who embodies the tragic young leader of the rival gang Hurt Village Hustlas, thus raising tensions between these two major groups in town.

Isaiah Washington, who played Mayor Tydell Ruffin in the show, claimed that Lionsgate had fired him in 2021. However, Katori Hall denied the claim in an April 2022 interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, Elarica Johnson, who portrayed Autumn Night, spoke to the aforementioned publication in August 2022 and revealed that she would be exiting the show post-season 2.

Another Deadline Hollywood article dated May 8, 2024, also divulged that Gail Bean (Roulette), Bertram Williams Jr (Woddy), and Thomas Q. Jones (Mane) had been upgraded to series regulars while adding Mea Wilkerson to the main cast for season 3. Wilkerson will reportedly play a new dancer called Haiku.

When will P-Valley season 3 be released?

After its second season premiered in June 2022, a third season of P-Valley was announced in October of that year. However, on May 11, 2023, series creator Katori Hall took to X, formerly Twitter, and revealed that filming had been suspended in solidarity with the WGA strike.

Hall wrote:

"Despite rumors, due to the #WGA #WritersStrike filming on #PValley has been postponed. Like many of my fellow showrunners, I feel as though my writing & producing duties are inextricably linked. We will not be filming until a fair deal is reached. #WGAStrong"

After a year of uncertainty, as per reports, the production of P-Valley season 3 had begun in Atlanta. While an official release date is yet to be announced, fans can expect the show to return by next year, considering the production schedule.

Where can you watch P-Valley season 3?

Fans can watch P-Valley season 3 on the Starz streaming service. As per its website, the platform currently has two plans. Viewers can opt for a standard monthly plan which costs $9.99 per month.

The second option is the semi-annual plan which will cost viewers $45.99 for six months. However, the platform provides frequent deals through which viewers can avail of the subscription plans for a lower price.
