The Legend of Vox Machina Episode 9 results in gory death for Thordak
The entirety of episode 9 delved into the battle between Vox Machina and Thordak’s allies. It began with the red dragon launching an attack on the forces of Whitestone and Syngorn. As the army struggles to escape, Vox Machina decides to split up. While half the team rushes to help their allies, the other half heads towards the dragon eggs, hoping to destroy them.
The likes of Kashaw and Zahra then join the scene. However, the team is still no match for the might of Thordak and his allies, as Kashaw is seen being crushed by the Cinder King. His spirit is claimed by the Matron of Ravens, even as the rest of the team continues the fight.
Keyleth and Pike are seen targeting Thordak’s soul anchor, a crystal that is the source of his strength and is embedded in his chest. However, they continue to fail until Pike remembers Zerxus’s advice to believe in her powers. She is able to weaken the red dragon temporarily.
On the other front, Grog and Scanlan are seen questioning their choices. However, the latter convinced Grog to destroy the eggs, even as some of them began to hatch. The two are left battling against the newborn dragons, which leads to another problem.
Thordak, hearing the cries of his children, abandons the battle and rushes for their help. However, Grog brings down the roof of Thordak’s lair, which traps the dragon under the rubble. Thordak eventually escapes and is now in a fury to exact revenge.
While Thordak is determined to vanquish the Vox Machina, a betrayal from Raishan leads to his demise as well. Raishan claims that Thordak has gone back on his word, and the two momentarily clash.
However, the Cinder King is already weakened by the battle and begins to flee. This is when Vax follows him, and with one final blow, brings an end to Thordak. Hence, the Vox Machina once again emerges victorious, but it comes at a cost. Scanlan is found in a deep coma, while Raishan’s betrayal does not mean she is now an ally. Instead, she escapes with Thordak’s corpse, which leads the team to wonder what exactly her intentions were.
The same can be expected to be revealed in the coming episodes. The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3 is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
