"They can create so many more superstars": DDG thinks streamers like IShowSpeed should disclose how much money they make
Popular YouTuber and rapper DDG has claimed that other content creators should reveal how much they make, to encourage others to succeed. He specifically pointed out IShowSpeed, who is one of the biggest streamers out there right now. In a recent video, DDG, aka Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., said,
“If n*ggas vocalized how much money they make, they would create so many superstars because people don't know.”
Darryl then mentioned IShowSpeed, and said, “Not to point nobody out but, people don't know how much money speed makes, y'all don't understand.” He also stated that while humility has its place, it is also the responsibility of creators to be encouraging.
He added, "I feel like when people be humble, and they just be like don't tell nobody, it's not selfish but it kinda is in a way. You see where I'm going with it?”
DDG also mentioned himself, in comparison to streamers. He said he doesn’t have to reveal his earnings since he is an artist, but the bigger entertainers have a responsibility. In this context, he said:
"Just a little bit cuz when you don't tell.. If I were just a regular and I showed nothing, it would be different. I am an artist, I am different from them. People know how much money people they look up to make, people in entertainment make, it will make them want to do the same"
"They tell you doctors make 250K a year": DDG thinks people would be as encouraged by streamers as they are by doctors and lawyers
The rapper also mentioned how people are encouraged to go to school after hearing how much doctors and lawyers make. He said:
“Like, a lot of people go to school to be a doctor, why? They tell you doctors make 250K a year, surgeons make 250K a year, lawyers make this much money.”
In the rapper’s opinion, if people knew how successful they could get by streaming, vlogging, or creating content, they would try to enter this line to achieve similar heights.
While DDG listed the pros of fame and popularity, he recently fell victim to one of the cons: excessive scrutiny. He broke the silence about the criticism against his baby. He and his partner have kept the pictures of the baby private except for a picture of the family on vacation in Italy. Many people reacted negatively in the comment section of the post. In response, he said,
“But then I have to that realize my son is richer than them, and he has a more successful life – he's in Italy at six months [old]. He's been across the world – he's been around the world already, and he's been living for six months… and they broke, poor… probably on welfare still, and they grown probably living with their momma…”
The rapper shares a son, Halo, with actress Halle Bailey.
