Becky Hammon points to LV Aces players' flaw that lead to loss vs Breanna Stewart and Co.: "That's not how we play"
Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon criticized the team's players during the post-game interview after their home loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday in their first game of the second half of the 2024 WNBA season. Hammon claimed that the Aces went rogue in the game. She elaborated on it by pointing out how the players were rusty in the game coming off the Olympic break:
"Going rogue is I just hang on to it and dribble in place for 20 dribbles. That's not how we play and we're not going anywhere with that. It was multiple people just dribbling, and us standing and staring at that person dribble in place."
Becky Hammon further spoke about the importance of moving the ball:
"My message to the whole team is you will actually play better, you will shoot better when we get ball movement. You can't get ball movement if your players are standing in one place. You have to get ball and player movement, they are intertwined, one is based on the other."

Becky Hammon shares challenges faced to get Aces' Olympians back on track
During the post-game interview after the Las Vegas Aces' loss to the New York Liberty, Becky Hammon spoke about the challenges faced to get the team's six Olympians back on track in the WNBA just a week after the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics. She said:
"A lot of pressure, a lot of stress, a lot of pounding, so it's just really about giving them the rest that they needed but you know we looked a little rusty, we looked like we hadn't really played in a week."
While Becky Hammon pointed out that the Aces seemed rusty, she highlighted that the Liberty played like they didn't miss a beat:
"That's funny cause New York just played LA and they didn't look like they missed a beat. They didn't exceptionally shoot the ball well tonight, we just probably shot a little worse. But that's why you can't have all those other little things go wrong. New York's very unselfish and I think that's probably their best attribute."
Tthe Aces shot 36.9% from the field and 29.0% from deep, while the Liberty shot 40.5% from the field and 25.8% from beyond the arc. The reigning champions will look to get back on the winning track as they host the LA Sparks on Sunday.
