Minnesota Lynx vs Connecticut Sun: Preview, prediction, and odds - October 4, 2024 | Game 3, WNBA 2024 Playoffs

The Minnesota Lynx will try to regain home-court advantage in their semifinal showdown against the Connecticut Sun on Friday. Napheesa Collier and Co. survived another gritty encounter in Game 2 to emerge with a 77-70 win and even the series at one apiece. To beat the hosts, the Lynx need to sustain the poise and execution they showed on Tuesday.

The Sun got what it wanted when it won Game 1 73-70 to gain the home-court edge. They will have to take care of business in the third meeting between the two teams in the postseason before thinking of Game 4. Connecticut’s defense, which has been impressive in the playoffs, is expected to make life difficult for the visitors.

Minnesota Lynx vs Connecticut Sun: Preview

The Lynx eked out a win in Game 2 by winning the rebound and assist battles. Connecticut limited Napheesa Collier, the playoffs’ leading scorer to nine points, but Minnesota’s ball movement made up for it. Kayla McBride, Courtney Williams, Alanna Smith and Bridget Carleton often had open looks as the Lynx passed the ball around better.

To have a big chance of winning Game 3, the Lynx will have to continue winning those categories.

The Sun almost stole another game in Minnesota but couldn’t execute as well late in the game as they did in Game 1. Connecticut must recognize their opponents’ willingness to share the ball if Collier is bottled up. The Sun’s communication on defense has to be on point to force Minnesota’s offense to stutter.

Alyssa Thomas has more than held his own against Collier on both ends of the floor. If the Connecticut star can keep that matchup a stalemate, the Sun will be in great shape to win the game.

Minnesota Lynx vs Connecticut Sun: Prediction

The Lynx are an excellent road team but the Sun have been just as good when playing in front of their home fans. Connecticut’s defense, which has been the star of the playoffs, might be more stingy in front of the home fans.

The Sun are predicted to take a 2-1 series lead after a win in Friday’s game.
