To beat the hosts, the Lynx need to sustain the poise and execution they showed on Tuesday.
The Sun got what it wanted when it won Game 1 73-70 to gain the home-court edge. They will have to take care of business in the third meeting between the two teams in the postseason before thinking of Game 4. The Lynx eked out a win in Game 2 by winning the rebound and assist battles. Connecticut limited Napheesa Collier, the playoffs’ leading scorer to nine points, but Minnesota’s ball movement made up for it. Kayla McBride, Courtney Williams, Alanna Smith and Bridget Carleton often had open looks as the Lynx passed the ball around better.
To have a big chance of winning Game 3, the Lynx will have to continue winning those categories.
The Sun almost stole another game in Minnesota but couldn’t execute as well late in the game as they did in Game 1. Connecticut must recognize their opponents’ willingness to share the ball if Collier is bottled up. The Sun’s communication on defense has to be on point to force Minnesota’s offense to stutter.
