A'ja Wilson tops MVP rival Breanna Stewart in NBA2K25 with near perfect rating
At this stage in her career, A'ja Wilson is a two-time WNBA champion, a two-time MVP and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. One of her latest accomplishments is being the first WNBA athlete to be on the global NBA 2K cover for this year's release. To add to the excitement, she is rated higher than Breanna Stewart in the NBA 2K25 game.
Wilson is in the middle of a career year with the Las Vegas Aces. Among some of the elite players in the league, such as Lynx's Napheesa Collier, NBA 2K25 ratings have Wilson as the best player in the league today.
A'ja Wilson received a 99 overall rating, while Stewart is a 97 overall player. Meanwhile, Napheesa Collier and Alyssa Thomas are tied at 95. Mercury center Brittney Griner, on the other hand, is also included in the top 5 ranked WNBA players at 94.
Some of these ratings could see another increase throughout the season in the scenario that their production reaches another level.
In the 24 games she's played this season, Wilson is putting up 27.2 points (52.2% shooting), 12.0 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game.
A'ja Wilson talked about being the WNBA cover athlete for NBA 2K25
Being the cover athlete for an NBA 2K game remains a rewarding moment for any player chosen.
This year's release will feature Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum and Las Vegas Aces' A'ja Wilson on the cover of the popular basketball video game franchise. Following the reveal, Wilson shared how special this moment is for her and the WNBA, as per a press release.
"Being featured on the NBA 2K25 cover is a big moment for me and a testament to the ever-growing fandom of the WNBA," Wilson said. "Seeing more and more WNBA athletes scanned into NBA 2K25 to best capture the style and confidence of the league has been empowering, and I can't wait for fans to experience it in-game."
Even before the arrival of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese in the WNBA, the league was on a steady rise in popularity and recognition. This was due to the work put in by the basketball icons who set the standard before and in this current generation, A'ja Wilson is at the forefront of that. She remains the gold standard in women's basketball today.
