Angel Reese dreads mid-season break with WNBA season resuming in 9 days
Chicago Sky’s star rookie Angel Reese recently posted an Instagram story expressing her dissatisfaction with the mid-season break currently underway in the WNBA. The Chicago Sky, currently 4th in the Eastern Conference with the 8th-best overall record in the league (10-14), were last in action on July 17 against the Las Vegas Aces.
Following a trend she has maintained throughout the season, Angel Reese was crucial in the 93-85 victory, adding to her tally of double-doubles with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Sky will be back in action against the Phoenix Mercury on August 16.
Reese, who has had a remarkable start to life in the big league, appears to be already dreading the break and posted an Instagram story suggesting the same. In it, she could be seen wearing a white Chicago Sky jersey, and she also included the following caption:
“I miss gamedays. :(,“ Reese wrote on her Instagram story.
While the Sky has had constant issues securing victories despite showing flashes of brilliance, Angel Reese herself has had a flawless season thus far. As the above story suggests, it is clear that the player is itching to get back on the court.
Angel Reese is fighting it out for the ROTY title against Caitlin Clark
Angel Reese this season has emerged as the most obvious competitor for Caitlin Clark, who has in half a season proved exactly why such expectations were placed on her shoulders. Clark has not only showcased her elaborate offensive and playmaking talent but has also immediately emerged as a leader for the Indiana Fever.
Clark has produced 17.1 points, 8.2 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game. Despite having plenty of games where she was not at her best offensively, Clark has managed 13.1 shots per game and has steadily taken charge of a team that has struggled the entire season. Her overall efficiency of 50.9% is also impressive, as she continues to stake her claim for ROTY.
On the other hand, Angel Reese broke a WNBA record for the most consecutive double-doubles, with a streak of 15. She may have had more support owing to the presence of stars such as Chennedy Carter and Kamilla Cardoso on her roster but has still managed to prove her worth.
Reese is currently going at 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, and her desperation to return to the court means that the ROTY race might only grow more interesting in the following weeks.
