Caitlin Clark snubs Michael Jordan as Fever superstar reveals her GOAT
Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark made waves by bypassing a six-time NBA champion to declare LeBron James the greatest basketball player of all time. In a Dec. 11 interview with Time magazine, Clark shared her admiration for LeBron, reflecting on the extensive praise she has received from the Lakers superstar in the recent past.
"LeBron has never directly messaged me, but seeing his support for me and the WNBA is amazing," Clark said. "You can really tell that he tunes in and has been a huge fan since my college days and now in the league.
"I mean, he’s the greatest basketball player of all time. So I think that’s pretty cool," she added.
Clark was honored as Time Magazine's 2024 Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, recognizing her extraordinary basketball achievements and her significant role in elevating the sport's popularity.
LeBron James on Caitlin Clark
LeBron James has been one of Caitlin Clark's most ardent supporters. The four-time NBA champion has consistently praised the Indiana Fever point guard for her electrifying style of play and, most notably, for her efforts in expanding the global reach of the WNBA.
In a recent statement, LeBron spoke openly about Clark, drawing comparisons between her journey and his own, particularly in navigating immense expectations from a young age.
"I have a great deal of respect for Caitlin Clark because I know exactly what it means to be drafted, be the face of a franchise, and also endure the skepticism of those who question your readiness for the next step," LeBron told Esquire. "Watching Caitlin and witnessing her journey resonates with my own experiences; I've supported her since day one. She has my full backing.
"We all witnessed her brilliance at Iowa, and I always believed that talent would translate to the professional level. She is an incredible athlete, and it’s a privilege to watch her play," he added.
Clark, the WNBA's reigning Rookie of the Year, is enjoying her offseason and will return to action when the 2025 season begins. She opted out of participating in the 3x3 Unrivaled basketball league, scheduled to commence in January.
Meanwhile, LeBron James is competing in his 22nd NBA season, spearheading the Lakers' campaign with his leadership and skill.
