Courtney Williams started with a pull-up jumper to get Minnesota on the board. It then led to a strong start for the Lynx as they went on a 12-4 run with 6:46 minutes remaining in the first quarter, resulting in a Sky timeout. Despite cutting the deficit to just five points, Minnesota responded effectively to finish with a six-point lead to finish the quarter.
The start of the second quarter wasn't any different as Minnesota continued to increase its lead while keeping Chicago's offense in check. However, the road team soon found some rhythm at the 6:19 mark after Michaela Onyenwere knocked down two free throws to bring the Sky within nine points.

The Minnesota Lynx sustained their momentum over the young Chicago Sky team, courtesy of their imposing defense. They led for the entire third quarter for each mini-run that Chicago went on, the home team had a response to protect their momentum in the process. The closest that the road team was able to make in the quarter was just trimming the lead to five points.
The start of the fourth quarter was a different story for the Lynx as the Chicago Sky would mount a strong response to stir some momentum their way. It started with a jumper from Lindsay Allen at the 9:42 mark to bring the deficit to just seven points.
With 7:41 minutes to go in the quarter, the game was all knotted up at 62 apiece. Minnesota wasn’t immediately rattled as they responded to have a nine-point lead. It was a strong response but Angel Reese and the Sky didn’t back down as they went on a 6-0 run.
Lynx guard Courtney Williams would calm things down after she knocked down a pivotal pull-up jumper to extend Minnesota’s lead to five points.
It was just down to 43 seconds remaining in the ball game when Lynx superstar Napheesa Collier snatched the ball away from Michaela Onyenwere to douse any comeback hopes of the visiting team. The final score was 79-74.
