Elated Caitlin Clark drops 5-word reaction to boyfriend Connor McCaffery's latest career move
WNBA star Caitlin Clark is in celebration mode as her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, got a new job in basketball. After spending some time as the team assistant for the Indiana Pacers, McCaffery decided to leave for a greener pasture. He'll return to college, but not as a student.
Clark's boyfriend will join Butler's coaching staff as an assistant coach. It will be a family affair for McCaffery as his younger brother, Patrick, transferred from the Iowa Hawkeyes to join the Bulldogs and will play for them this season. His other younger brother, Jack, is expected to join them next year, according to David Eickholt.
Clark was proud of her man on Instagram and shared a four-word reaction to express her elation.
"Yayy!! so happy for you," Clark posted on IG.
McCaffery appreciated the support that he got from his girlfriend, and he also shared how Clark congratulated him on social media. The new Butler assistant coach reposted the Indiana Fever star's post on Instagram.
According to Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files, McCaffery will be replacing former NBA player Greg Oden. It was confirmed shortly after that Oden would leave Butler, where he joined the staff in 2022.
The former professional basketball player was a star in college and became the No. 1 pick back in 2007 by the Portland Trail Blazers, the same year Kevin Durant was drafted.
Butler's head coach has some high expectations from Caitlin Clark's boyfriend
Following the hiring of Caitlin Clark's boyfriend Connor McCaffery, Thad Matta, the head coach of Butler, shared his thoughts on the news. According to Matta, McCaffery's experience with the Pacers will help him and his staff improve their system.
"Following a high-level playing career, Connor has had the opportunity to both contribute and learn alongside one of the best staffs in the NBA," Matta said in a statement. "Those experiences will be very valuable to our staff. He obviously comes from a basketball family that I know very well and I'm excited for the impact he is going to have on our program both quickly and in the long run."
His assistant coaching job at Butler is his second basketball gig after he spent six years playing college basketball at the University of Iowa.
