Gabby Williams beams with pride as she relishes sister Jayda Noble's long-awaited college moment
Seattle Storm veteran Gabby Williams celebrated her sister starting a new chapter in her basketball journey. Jayda Noble Williams committed to the California Golden Bears in April, but Gabby couldn't watch her live in action on the court until Saturday night.
Williams took to Instagram stories to share a couple of snaps about her experience watching her sister start her college tenure. In an emotional post, Gabby recalled her time waiting for this moment.
"and after 5 years i finally got to see my little sister play college basketball 🥹🥹🥹🥰🥰🥰," she captioned the story.
Moreover, she brought her aunt as a special guest for the game against the Fordham Rams.
The Golden Bears drifted away from the Rams early in the game, winning the first quarter 22-10. The Rams bounced back with a 15-11 second-quarter win but there was no looking back for Cal after that. They won the next quarters 17-15 and 19-13 to secure the 69-53 win.
Jayda Noble played a solid 28 minutes but didn't have the best game scoring-wise. She dropped three points, grabbed six rebounds and dished two assists for the Bears. Ioanna Krimli led the way for this team with 19 points, three rebounds and four assists, while Ugonne Onyiah contributed 15 points and six rebounds.
Noble and Co. return to the court on Sunday to take on the Temple Owls. They are trying to improve their record to 13-1 to start the season.
Gabby Williams returned to the WNBA after impressive Olympics performances
After a terrific performance in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, where she became a dual threat and was inches away from sending the gold medal game against Team USA to overtime, Gabby Williams returned to the WNBA with the Seattle Storm.
After a tumultuous stint with the Chicago Sky, Williams found her way to Seattle and reunited with the squad this year to help them have a bigger chance at the championship. The Storm, however, was stopped in the first round of the playoffs by the Las Vegas Aces.
Gabby Williams played four years for the University of Connecticut, helping them post a 148-3 record, which included four Final Four appearances and back-to-back National Championships in 2015 and 2016.
After making history with the Huskies, Gabby is witnessing her sister create her legacy, but it's still too early to say how Jayda Noble will fare in college.
