"Good shiii rook" - Injured Angel Reese fired up by rookie Caleb Williams' winning start for Chicago Bears
Angel Reese has plenty of free time after announcing her rookie season ended due to a wrist injury. The forward said she'll encourage her teammates from the sidelines, but she quickly showed that's not the only team she'll support during her offseason.
Reese shared an Instagram story to celebrate the Chicago Bears' first win of the 2024 NFL season. More specifically, she hyped rookie quarterback Caleb Williams after the team's 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.
"THEM BOYZ! GOOD SHIIIIII ROOK! 🔥@AYEECALEB," she captioned the post.
Coming off a 7-10 season with Justin Fields under center, the Chicago Bears drafted Caleb Williams as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This was deemed a franchise-altering move, as Williams became one of the most hyped QB prospects to enter the NFL. The Bears had little success with their prior signal-callers and having a player of Williams' caliber is a major step up for Chicago.
His first NFL test came against the new-look Titans, who held a 17-3 halftime lead. Once the second half began, however, the Bears took care of business. After a blocked kick, Jonathan Owens recovered the football and scored a touchdown.
Following two field goals by Cairo Santos, Tyrique Stevenson completed a 43-yard TD interception before Caleb Williams connected with running back D'Andre Swift for the two-point conversion.
The former USC QB attempted 29 passes while connecting 14 times for 64 yards. He added five carries for 15 yards to finish his afternoon. Although the touted rookie didn't have the flashiest debut, Williams showed enough poise to limit turnovers. That was enough today for the Bears.
Angel Reese announced season-ending injury on social media
Hours before showing her excitement for Caleb Williams, Angel Reese shared an Instagram post with a completely different tone. The Chicago Sky rookie announced she made the final bucket of her rookie season, a 3-pointer against Los Angeles.
Ironically, the same night she picked up the injury, the Sky ended a seven-game skid to keep their playoff hopes alive. Reese finished the season averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
Like Williams, Angel Reese has high expectations. Along with Caitlin Clark, she's considered the future of women's basketball.
