Skylar Diggins-Smith as part of the Seattle Storm facing the Chicago Sky

"Hailey, count your god damn DAYS on this app": Seattle admin hilariously wages war on Chicago Sky in social media spat

The friendly social media banter between the Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm picked up steam after Tuesday’s WNBA game. Seattle defeated Chicago 77-68 to extend its winning streak to three games. However, the war of words continued after the game as both teams' social media admins had a hilarious exchange on X.

Seattle's win gave it bragging rights to celebrate with a hilarious pun. Skylar Diggin-Smith’s effort was used for a graphic highlighting her 21 points, three assists and three steals as the Storm’s best player.

The wordplay of Skylar defeating the Chicago Sky gave Seattle a great X post.

Storm social media admin Hailey Robinson was then called out by name by the Sky’s admin Connor Moore, who threatened revenge the next time the teams play.

"Hailey, count your god damn DAYS on this app," Moore tweeted.

WNBA social media pages get praise for having a more fun dynamic and for embracing banter more productively than the NBA does. The league is growing in popularity and seeing new fans embrace the positives of the league. A friendly social media environment is cultivated by the X pages having fun with each other.

Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm are proving more teams hold relevance this WNBA season

WNBA teams are showing depth is stronger this season after last year’s regular season was dominated by the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty. The Seattle Storm and Chicago Sky compete at a high level and will have playoff aspirations. The league is growing in many ways, but the improvement in parity gives most teams a chance at realistic success.

Most pundits picked the Liberty and Aces to be the class of the league for the second consecutive year. A long season still playing out will decide that, but the Storm and Sky are stepping up. Social media banter adds to the fun of teams having something to fight for.

Winning games remains the top goal, and Seatle had another funny pun in the game result tweet, playing into the team’s victory over Chicago, which is known as the Windy City:

The WNBA’s goal of growing into a bigger league after recent surges in interest should see the fun social media environment playing a role. Teams like the Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm understand the league should be fun. Social media banter can add to the excitement of any game. WNBA teams will continue to implement that as a tool for progression.
