"I wanted to be a video vixen" - Angel Reese reveals insights of shooting music video with Latto & Cardi B

Angel Reese shared that she had always dreamed of being a “video vixen,” a dream that became reality when she appeared in the music video for Latto and Cardi B’s song “Put It On Da Floor Again" in June 2023.

During an episode of her "Unapologetically Angel" podcast, where Latto was a guest, Reese explained how her appearance in the music video came to be.

Just months after leading LSU to its first-ever national title, Angel Reese, a basketball star, said starring in the video was a dream fulfilled.

“This is a different kind of route for me, like I had never— I always said I wanted to be like a video vixen. I don't know why I always said that,” she said in her podcast.

According to Dictionary.com, one of the meanings of "vixen" refers to "a woman regarded as sexually attractive," which is the popular archetype of women who appear in rap or hip-hop videos.

“I always said I wanted to be a little video vixen, and then when you DM'ed me, I was like, I had to text my agent, like, 'Should I do this?' I was like, 'Is it going to be ghetto?' I didn't know what to expect. It was ghetto.”

Angel Reese’s cameo in the music video was brief, coinciding with a line where Cardi B raps, "I've been ballin' so damn hard, could've went to LSU," with Reese appearing on screen.

Angel Reese had just won the national championship and the Most Outstanding Player award at the women's Final Four when the music video was released.

Reese is now the fourth LSU player to find success in the WNBA, following in the footsteps of Sylvia Fowles, Theresa Plaisance and Khayla Pointer of the Indiana Fever.

LSU has also produced basketball legends like Shaquille O’Neal, Bob Pettit, Pete Maravich, as well as NBA stars Ben Simmons and reigning Sixth Man of the Year, Naz Reid.
