"I won 6 games in a row btw": Aliyah Boston has bragging rights over Jimmy Butler in his favorite game
Aliyah Boston is as competitive as they come. Throughout her basketball career, she has consistently excelled, earning numerous accolades. Recently, she added another achievement to her list: bragging rights over NBA star Jimmy Butler.
While Butler is currently in the spotlight due to his complicated situation with the Miami Heat, he shared a lighthearted moment on social media. In one of his Instagram stories, Butler posted the aftermath of a dominoes game — a favorite pastime of his. The twist? Butler appeared to be on the losing end in that story.
The IG story shows Butler smiling sheepishly at a dominoes table while Boston jumps for joy. When Boston shared Butler's story on Wednesday, she wanted to leave no doubt about the outcome of their games:
"I won 6 games in a row btw," wrote the Indiana Fever forward.
It's possible that the dominoes session between Butler and Boston stemmed from the Heat forward's interactions with the Unrivaled players. During his seven-game suspension this month, following some controversial remarks about the Heat, Butler spent time working out with two-time WNBA All-Star Satou Sabally.
Meanwhile, Sabally was spotted next to Boston at a college basketball game last December.
Butler's friendship with these fellow hoopers might have sparked some friendly off-court competitions. However, it was Boston who ended up with bragging rights, enjoying a winning streak in dominoes.
Analyst: Satou Sabally would be a great fit on Aliyah Boston's team
While Butler's dominoes defeat might be lighthearted fun, the Indiana Fever's determination to build a championship roster is serious business. With promising talents like Boston and the prolific Caitlin Clark, the Fever's front office is keen to maximize the potential of the next few seasons.
One key player they might target is Sabally, who has announced her departure from the Dallas Wings to explore free agency. According to WNBA analyst Terrika Foster-Brasby, Sabally joining Indiana would make sense for a number of reasons:
"New head coach, new opportunities there, they're already a playoff team," said Brasby on the Jan. 14 episode of "On Her Turf."
She added:
"You can imagine a starting lineup of Satou, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell if she stays, and Aliyah Boston. To me, that feels like a team that can definitely do damage in this league."
With a few months left in the WNBA offseason, several possibilities remain for Sabally's free agency and potential additions to the Fever roster, led by the talented duo of Clark and Boston.
