"I was wrong" - Angel Reese settles GloRilla’s playful jab on age difference with her brother with clarification tweet
Angel Reese recently released an episode of her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” where she featured rapper GloRilla. One of the topics they discussed was Reese's relationship with her younger brother, Julian Reese, who plays for the Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team.
Reese mentioned that she and her brother often have competitive debates over who is the better player, which prompted GloRilla to ask about their age difference. Reese explained that she is just 11 months older than Julian. Surprised, GloRilla asked how that was possible, to which Reese humorously replied:
“Ask my mama.”
On Thursday, the WNBA Rookie of the Year runner-up clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that she and her brother are actually 13 months apart.
“Ok me and my brother are actually 13 months apart😭i was wrong but 13 months is still crazy lmaooo,” she said.
Reese has referred to GloRilla, known for hits like “TGIF,” “Yeah Glo!” and “Wannabe,” as one of her favorite artists, alongside Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B and Latto. The two first interacted when GloRilla brought Reese onstage during a concert in Chicago earlier this year.
Angel Reese predicts a big year for brother Julian
Angel Reese recently expressed her confidence in her brother Julian having a standout season at Maryland.
"My brother is going to have a great year. i’m calling it now," she said.
Angel herself played two seasons at Maryland, where she averaged 15.3 points per game before transferring to LSU in 2022.
Julian is entering his fourth year at Maryland, following his best season yet, where he averaged 13.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game on 54.6% shooting. His season kicks off on Nov. 4 against the Manhattan Jaspers.
In a 2022 interview with WhatsUp? Media, Angel revealed that she and Julian have always been competitive growing up.
“Everything was always competitive with my younger brother,” she said. “We had a basketball court in front of our house, and it was always very competitive and intense. We played all the time together. It helped shape me to who I am now.”
Angel Reese was the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, and she wrapped up her rookie season with a league-record 26 double-doubles. She also led the WNBA in rebounds per game (13.1) and offensive rebounds per game (5.1).
