Gotham FC had the honor of being the first NWSL team to visit the White House on Monday and Sue Bird had a front-row seat to the festivities. The former WNBA star was part of a group from the New York/New Jersey soccer team to be welcomed to Pennsylvania Avenue by President Joe Biden, and she was spotted wearing a stylish olive green suit at the event.

Bird became a minority investor in the franchise in 2022 and has been a big part of the club's growth over the last couple of years. She has been seen at NWSL games and has been working as an "advisor" for Gotham FC. On Monday, the four-time WNBA champion shared some snaps of the team's historic visit to the White House on her Instagram account.

Bird's collection of pictures shows the team visiting the White House and offering a jersey to President Biden. There are also some fashionable snaps of Bird posing in a sleek olive green outfit.

Gotham FC is coming off an extremely successful season. They went on to win their first NWSL championship in 2023, defeating the OL Reign 2-1 in the finals, with Lynn Williams and Esther Gonzalez scoring the goals.

The team was founded in 2006 and was one of the founding members of the NWSL when the league opened in 2013. The franchise boasts some of the sports world's biggest names as investors/owners, including the NBA's Kevin Durant, two-time NFL Super Bowl winner Eli Manning and USWNT two-time Olympic champion Carli Lloyd.

Sue Bird retired from the WNBA in 2022 after an impressive 20-year career but has remained involved in the sports industry through her investments in various franchises. Along with Gotham FC, Bird is also part of the ownership group of the WNBA's Seattle Storm.

Bird was thrilled when the Storm re-signed French-American forward Gabby Williams midway through the 2024 season and even posted a message of support on her Instagram account when the news broke.

Williams had missed the first half of the season due to preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The 28-year-old was one of the best performers in Paris, leading her nation to the finals, where it was eventually defeated by Team USA.

The Storm are currently competing in the WNBA playoffs. They face the Las Vegas Aces in the first round, and Williams will be a key figure as the team goes in search of their fifth WNBA title.

Over 12 games during the regular season, Williams averaged 10.3 points, 4 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
