Indiana Fever receive massive Sophie Cunningham injury update ahead of showdown vs Atlanta Dream
The Indiana Fever will play without Sophie Cunningham when they square off against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday. The star guard has missed the Fever's last two games owing to a right ankle injury and is likely to take more time before making her comeback.
On Monday, coach Stephanie White provided a significant injury update on Cunningham. The Fever guard practiced with the team and has begun working her way back. The franchise, however, has taken a cautious approach with her to ensure no further setbacks.
"She (Cunningham) was a little limited today and it's seeing how they do in certain drills and certain actions, getting them back into game condition again," White told reporters. "This is an injury that she's aggravated a few times now this season. So making sure we're playing the long game and doing it the right way."
Sophie Cunningham has traveled with the team during her latest injury setback. In the previous two games, the former Phoenix Mercury guard was on the bench along with injured Caitlin Clark, cheering for their teammates from the sidelines.
