Jimmy Butler showers praise on WNBA players: "They can do everything we can do if not more"
Jimmy Butler has been in off-season mode since the Miami Heat were bumped early in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs. The six-time NBA All-Star recently enjoyed a WNBA game featuring the Los Angeles Sparks and the Dallas Wings.
Now that there are more eyes on women's basketball since the arrival of Caitlin Clark along with fellow 2024 draftmates Cameron Brink, Angel Reese and others, Butler enjoyed what he saw and acknowledged their skills.
“Women can HOOP. … they can do everything we can do if not more," said Butler during a courtside interview. "They came up here to put on a show, and I love it."
With Jimmy Butler in attendance, the LA Sparks won 81-72, improving their season record to 3-7.
Dearica Hamby led the Sparks with 22 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Lexie Brown came off the bench with 16 points, six assists and four rebounds. Rookie Cameron Brink logged in a double double of 10 points and 10 boards while also blocking two shots.
On the other side of the fence, Arike Ogunbowale was the leader in scoring for the Dallas Wings with 22 points, while Maddy Siegrist is not far behind, chipping in with 21 points in the loss.

In a trade to land Jimmy Butler from Miami, Golden State must absorb his upcoming $48 million salary for the 2024-25 season followed by a one-year $52 million player option.
To match the Heat's swingman's salary, it has to involve either or both the salaries of Andrew Wiggins. at $26.2 million, and Draymond Green's $24.1 million. Other trade assets that could be packaged with the deal could be the expiring contracts of Gary Payton II and Kevon Looney.
The Warriors are also expected to pick up team options for Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
