Kate Martin stuns trainer with insane vertical in latest IG post
Kate Martin can jump! The WNBA star stunned her trainer with her insane vertical during a practice session at the Bettendorf YMCA in Iowa.
Martin joined trainer Maxwell Schmarzo and former Wayne State College and overseas player Kendall Jacks for a practice session. In a video posted by Schmarzo, the Golden State Valkyries star practiced long-range and jump shots against Jacks.
However, the highlight was Martin's insane verticality. The last part of the video showed Kater Martin at full speed making the jump to grab the rim, and she didn't miss, leaving her trainer astounded.
"Wait a second, did Kate Martin just grab the rim?" the trainer said in the video.
Schmarzo also hyped up the Valkyrie star in the caption.
"Full day of training with THEEE @katemartin - we continue to work day in and day out," his caption read.
Martin also reposted the video on her IG story to share with her fans.
While the Golden State Valkyries star was a fan favorite when she played for the Las Vegas Aces, fans didn't get to truly witness her talent on the court. However, it seems like, Martin is ready to make her mark in the 2025 WNBA season.
Kate Martin played 34 games for the Aces last season but averaged just 11.5 minutes. Becky Hammon couldn't find a place for Martin in the rotation despite pressure from fans. Given how little Hammon used Martin, it was imperative that the former Iowa star would be out of the list of six players protected by the team before the WNBA expansion draft.
Kate Martin receives big boots from Iowa teammate Caitlin Clark after Valkyries move
Kate Martin's joining the Golden State Valkyries is the best thing that could have happened to her. After the Valkyries' social media handle made a post of Martin joining the team, Caitlin Clark reposted the post on her IG story.
The Indiana Fever star and Martin's Iowa teammate captioned her IG story to hype up Martin.
"let's go Kater!!!!!" Clark wrote.
Taken by the Valkyries in the WNBA expansion draft, Kate Martin is hoping to find more minutes on the floor for herself. Moreover, Martin also has a big fanbase in the league, which could bring more fans to arenas.
Martin will also participate in the inaugural Unrivaled league in January. She will join stars like Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier in the 3X3 basketball league.
