Lexie Brown lauds JuJu Watkins as she approaches one of Caitlin Clark

Lexie Brown makes her feelings clear on JuJu Watkins as USC star nears Caitlin Clark record

USC star JuJu Watkins is taking the college game by storm and pros like Lexie Brown have enjoyed seeing her dominance. Watkins has shattered several records and is poised to break even more, including one from ex-Iowa star Caitlin Clark.

Watkins is cementing her legacy as one of the top college players and Brown could not help but heap praise on her. On Monday, the LA Sparks guard took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Watkins' game.

"I love watching Juju play so much," Brown tweeted.

After Brown made her post, someone suggested that Hannah Hidalgo was a better player than Watkins. Instead of arguing, Brown shared the love.

"The game is in great hands," Brown tweeted.

One of Clark's records from her playing days in Iowa is the number of 30-point performances in her first two seasons: 23 from 2020-21 to 2021-22.

Watkins scored 31 points against Michigan on Sunday to lead USC to a 78–58 landslide win. That 30-point performance is her 17th dating back to her freshman season.

This means Watkins is only six games away from tying Clark and seven away from breaking her record for most 30-point games in the first two seasons.

USC still has 16 regular season games from Wednesday to Mar. 1, 2025. This will be followed by the Big Ten Tournament. As such, Watkins has plenty of time to break Clark's record.

Lexie Brown picked Caitlin Clark as her ROTY over Angel Reese before the award's winner was announced

Lexie Brown is a regular on the "Gil's Arena" podcast. In July, the panel discussed who should be named the WNBA's Rookie of the Year: Angel Reese or Caitlin Clark. Brown gave the edge to Clark while also giving props to Reese.

"Depends on what you value," Brown said. "For me, I'm valuing the IQ, passing, shot making ability of Caitlin Clark. They've manager to turn their season around a little bit. Then you go on the flipside and Angel, winning Rookie of the Month, breaking WNBA records, rebounding.
"So it's what you value more and for me, from the way I like to play basketball, my vote would be for Caitlin. But it's close, I wouldn't be mad at either one of them." (6:44)

Clark went on to win the Rookie of the Year award with 66 of the 67 votes from the panel of broadcasters and media personnel. The one vote that did not go her way went to Angel Reese.
