"Melo, come out of retirement": Angel Reese urges Carmelo Anthony to unretire as Kiyan Anthony expresses desire to play with him
Kiyan Anthony has yet to decide on his college future, but once that's done, the NBA will be patiently waiting for the four-star recruit. Angel Reese made a plea to Carmelo Anthony to unretire and play with his son in the league.
On Thursday's episode of the 'Unapologetically Angel' show, Anthony talked about Bronny James making it to the league. He said it was 'fire' before Reese asked if he'd like to share the court with Melo in the NBA.
"How you feel about him [Bronny James] being able to play with his dad? Would you have wanted to play with Melo? Tell him, 'Come out of retirement, Melo,'" Reese said. (12:24)
Kiyan said that he would love to play with his dad.
"Melo, come out of retirement. We need that," Reese added.
Kiyan Anthony has several options to commit to his college journey, starting from his father's alma mater, the University of Syracuse. The young prospect said the program might be after him due to his skillset, but they're not the only ones trying to land Anthony.
Kiyan visited USC a month ago, where Bronny James played his lone season in college.
He's one of the highest-ranked prospects in the 2025 class and is the top-ranked player in New York, per ESPN.
Carmelo Anthony names Kiyan Anthony's NBA comparison
Unless something extraordinary happens, Carmelo Anthony won't be able to play alongside or against his son. However, he's excited to see the kid growing into his own man and standing his ground against any opponent.
In a conversation with "Overtime" last week, the future Hall of Famer said that Kiyan Anthony would be 6-foot-7.5 or 6-foot-8 at some point in his career. Moreover, Melo compared his son to three talented former NBA players.
"I'll try to be very honest about his comp, because I know his game. His comp is Paul George," Anthony said. "[Tyrese] Haliburton, Penny [Hardaway]. He's Penny with a great jump shot. That would be my comp. Shaun Livingston with jump shot. With a crazy jumper. That's the mold. I can't say me."
It remains to be seen whether Kiyan Anthony can live up to those lofty comparisons thrown out by his father.
