Mercury guard dubs LeBron James as GOAT citing his Olympic influence in boosting her game
Phoenix Mercury star Kahleah Copper named LA Lakers superstar LeBron James her GOAT. The four-time NBA champion is still going strong after 21 seasons in the league and doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
After spending time with him during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Copper saw firsthand all the things James could do. After the Mercury took down the Chicago Sky 85-65 on Thursday, the Most Improved Player of the Year candidate told reporters she's aiming to become better with LeBron serving as an inspiration.
"Being at the Olympics and being with the guys, we were just talking about matchups and different plays. Talking about LeBron [James], specifically, how he's just incredible," Copper said.
"It's a very tough cover. One, you can't guard him one-on-one. And then, you bring in help, he's finding shooters and he's just prolific. That's my GOAT. That's who I want to be like."
LeBron James is one of the best players to grace an NBA court. He's widely considered the greatest of all time and after 21 seasons of playing at the highest level, he keeps going, trying to add more silverware to his case.
Just like Copper, he won gold in the Paris Olympics in the men's event against France, playing a key role in the team's success and being crowned the MVP of the tournament.

Team USA superstars continued to hype up each other during the competition. Men and women's basketball stars met during the opening ceremony, including Copper and LeBron. James videobombed Copper during the opening ceremony.
LeBron James, the flag bearer for this year's Olympics, appeared on Copper's video. The Phoenix Mercury shared the video, bragging about having two Finals MVPs in the same clip.
"Just a couple Finals MVPs on a boat."
Moreover, after the men's team beat France, the women's squad did the same against the same opponent. Following his thrilling match, LeBron James was in attendance, supporting Copper and the rest of Team USA.
Copper is now trying to lead the Mercury to the WNBA playoffs while Bron waits for the start of a new NBA season.
