NaLyssa Smith shouts out LaMelo Ball's signature shoe line - "Got the shoe game in a headlock"
Indiana Fever forward NaLyssa Smith gave a shoutout to LaMelo Ball's signature shoes on Thursday. Smith shared an image of the Charlotte Hornets star's latest shoe on her Instagram story, praising the product.
NaLyssa took to her social media to share her opinions on LaMelo's signature shoe posting a picture of a pair she owned. The star was in awe of the newly released footwear captioning the picture with a message:
"Melo got the shoe game in a headlock," she wrote expressing her love for the sneaker.
The fourth Puma x LaMelo collab dropped on Sept. 12 and has got the basketball world talking with its colorways and design. Smith was pictured with an 'MB.04 1 LOVE' version of the sneakers donning a pink-yellow alert color scheme currently retailing at $125.0 on the Puma website.
This sneaker will also have another version dropping on Dec. 13 featuring a new graphic print resembling a lava lamp. Called the 'Puma MB.04 Heem' the model will retail at the same price as his other MB. 04 with the only real difference being the colorway and design.
NaLyssa Smith drops cryptic post days before the expansion draft
The WNBA expansion draft for the newest team in the league, the Golden State Valkyries, is fast approaching, with the date set for Dec. 6, 2024. Many teams will be trying to keep their best six players during this period but the Indiana Fever might face some issues.
Although five of the six players they need to retain are quite obvious, with the likes of Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull and NaLyssa Smith being the prime candidates. The latter seems to be obscure about her future as she dropped a cryptic post on Tuesday.
The Fever forward took to X (formerly Twitter) three days before the draft and shared a seemingly cryptic tweet. Posting a blacked-out screen, Smith wrote:
"Life is all about knowin yo worth, don't stay nowhere u not wanted n appreciated."
Teams need to submit their list of protected players 10 days before the draft, and the post led to speculation the Fever might have chosen against Smith.
Regardless, the first expansion draft since 2008 will be when fans get the answers as for now NaLyssa continues to be a Fever player.
NBA analysts rank LaMelo high on the 'worry' scale
After racking up pretty good numbers at the start of the 2024-25 NBA season, LaMelo Ball will reportedly be missing out on two weeks of action due to a calf strain. Averaging 31.1 points per game on 43% shooting the star had a bright start before being ruled out in late November.
Having also missed the second half of last season with an injury, this has led to question marks on his fitness. Analysts Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo spoke about Ball recently while ranking their 'worry' scale and put Ball high on the list due to his injuries and tendencies to lose the ball.
Russillo said on the Bill Simmons podcast that he believed LaMelo was very high on the 'worry' list sharing his concern:
"Really high... I think there's a tendency, he gets out there and does his own thing, I think it sucks to play with, I think it's losing basketball, it's a habit he has to break to be something in this league other than just a box score guy." He said about the Hornets star.
Simmons then added to that take, expressing that the young star was not who he seemed to be, calling him a "good stats bad team guy"
While the duo did praise LaMelo for being a great player and for being better than they first expected, the duo believed that he was not the right man to lead the team especially if he kept losing the ball.
