Nika Muhl has 1-word praise for Ashlynn Shade’s blitz in UConn’s dominant win over Iowa
Nika Muhl gave flowers in one word to UConn Huskies' star Ashlynn Shade for her incredible performance against the Iowa State Cyclones. Muhl shared UConn women's basketball's Instagram handle's hype post for Shade on her Instagram story.
The Seattle Storm star accompanied her praise in the caption of her upload.
"Special," the caption read.
The post featured a picture of Shade from the game. The Huskies guard showed her back with her jersey number. The Cyclones suffered a blowout loss against the Huskies (101-68).
Shade had 27 points, two rebounds and four assists. Sarah Strong led the scoring chart for the night with 29 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Huskies sensation Paige Bueckers also stepped up and delivered alongside her teammates. She scored 27 points, collected two rebounds and provided two assists in the win.
Nika Muhl played for the UConn Huskies before declaring for the 2024 WNBA draft. Muhl is a two-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year and the record holder for UConn's single-season assists record and all-time assists record.
Nika Muhl shares workout snaps after a devastating injury in an overseas league
Nika Muhl shared pictures of herself working out in the gym after suffering a devastating ACL injury in October. Muhl accompanied a caption expressing her thoughts in front of her 521K followers.
"If it don’t hurt, it won’t work," the caption read.
In the pictures featured on the post, the Storm guard is dressed in her gym outfit and has weights over her shoulder while doing squats.
After the WNBA season ended, Muhl went to Turkey to play for Besiktas in the Women's Basketball Super League. However, in her first game for the Turkish team, Muhl landed awkwardly during a jump, damaging the ACL in her left leg.
The Storm guard primarily played a bench role in her rookie season and the off-season was an opportunity for her to get some real on-court experience before returning next season. During her rookie season, Muhl played only 16 games with an average game time of 3.6 minutes.
