Nika Muhl’s sister Hana Muhl shares 2-word motivation amid Seattle Storm guard's ACL recovery journey
Seattle Storm young star Nika Muhl is in the middle of her ACL rehab after sustaining the season-ending injury in her very first game with Turkish team Besiktas. Muhl has endured a lengthy recovery, but her social media activity shows that she's embracing the journey.
In her latest Instagram post, Muhl shared a series of pictures of her workouts with a message for motivation.
"If it don’t hurt, it won’t work," she captioned the post.
Several family members reacted to this post, starting with her sister Hana, who pumped up her ACL recovery.
"ACL who??????" she commented.
Moreover, her mother Roberta posted two emojis underneath the post.
Her boyfriend Nahiem Alleyne added another comment, praising Muhl for her hard work.
The Seattle Storm rookie didn't have the best 2024 season, as she didn't have many chances to showcase her talents and only played during garbage time with the Western Conference team.
They finished fifth in the standings despite having a plethora of stars that included Jewell Lloyd, Skylar Diggins-Smith and Nneka Ogwumike. Muhl tried to get overseas experience but her tenure didn't last long and she's now working to get back to the court stronger than before.
Nika Muhl had an underwhelming rookie season in Seattle
Despite coming into the league as a potential solid contributor, Nika Muhl didn't have the opportunity to shine with the Seattle Storm. The guard was selected as the No. 14 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft out of UConn, but played only 16 games, averaging 3.6 minutes per game.
She averaged 0.1 points, 0.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.1 steals per game, shooting 7.1% from the field. Muhl only played garbage-time minutes, but she always remained committed to her team, saying that she was ready to help her team however she could. The Storm had plenty of veterans that made it hard for Muhl to have more chances to play and it's unclear if that will change next season.
The experience in Turkey would have helped her development, but she'll need to wait to return to the court with Seattle. She suffered a serious injury but has been surrounded by a lot of support by people trying to accompany her during the rehab process.
