"One of the highlights of my career" - Kelsey Plum satisfied with attention from viral T-shirt toss video
Kelsey Plum is no stranger to highlights, as the three-time WNBA All-Star looks to win her second Olympic gold medal with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Looking back at one of her off-the-court highlights, Plum recently discussed a video that went viral of her launching a T-shirt at a San Antonio Spurs game with an NFL quarterback-esque arm strength.
"Honestly, it's probably one of the favorite highlights of my career. I've gotten more love for throwing that T-shirt in San Antonio than anything I ever did," Plum said regarding the viral video.
The video was recorded back in 2017 when Plum was the No.1 overall pick for the San Antonio Stars before she was sold and rebranded to the Las Vegas Aces.
Fast forward seven years and Plum is one of the best players in the WNBA for arguably the best team in the WNBA. This season, Plum made her third straight WNBA All-Star appearance, boasting impressive averages of 18.8 points, 4.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds for the Aces.
Plum is looking to win her second Olympic gold medal with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She won the gold medal for the 3x3 team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Kelsey Plum and Team USA dominate in Olympics opener vs. Japan
Kelsey Plum and Co. were victorious in their first Olympic contest in Paris as Team USA looked dominant in a 102-76 win over Japan.
Plum finished 11 points, shooting 4-for-6 from the field, while her Aces teammate A'ja Wilson led the team with a 24-point, 13-rebound double-double performance in an impressive win for the United States women's national team.
Incredibly, the win extended Team USA's winning streak at the Olympics to 56 games.
Breanna Stewart also chipped in 22 points and eight rebounds as Team USA moved past Japan. Next up for the seven-time winners is a game against Belgium on Aug. 1 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Team USA is the heavy favorite to win it all in the women's basketball bracket, leading the odds at -1800. The Belgian women's team enters with the fifth-highest odds at +3000.
Belgium lost their opening matchup versus Germany in a tough 83-69 loss. After Team USA, Belgium will move on to play Japan to conclude group play, while Team USA will face Germany on Aug. 4.
