Proud mom Candace Parker delivers special message to daughter Lailaa Williams' huge volleyball achievement
WNBA legend Candace Parker's teenage daughter, Lailaa Williams, was named to the Division 4 Southern Section All-CIF volleyball team on Monday. Williams is Parker's daughter with former NBA forward Shelden Williams.
Campbell Hall Athletics gave a shoutout to Williams and several other members of the Classes of 2027 and 2028 on their Instagram page.
Parker shared the news on Instagram through a series of story posts, each accompanied by a heartfelt message. In her first post, she shared the news along with some talking emojis.
In the second, she encouraged her daughter to keep working.
In the third, she wrote:
"She don't want no puppy she want a big dog!"

Parker and her daughter have a unique bond in the sense that, as the WNBA legend explained in an interview with People back in 2023, her daughter went everywhere with her growing up. Thanks to Parker's busy schedule, she brought Lailaa with her around the world while she hooped.
Looking back at Candace Parker and Kevin Durant's investment in a women's volleyball league last year
With her daughter being a competitive volleyball player, it's no wonder that the WNBA legend is involved with League One Volleyball the first full-season pro volleyball league in the US.
In 2023, Parker joined Kevin Durant and Jayson Tatum in investing in the league, with her daughter Lailaa named as a co-investor alongside her. In a post from LOVB, Parker and her daughter were quoted as saying:
"LOVB is leading the way in a sport that is close to our hearts and creating a larger platform for volleyball to be more visible year-round."
The league is set to begin its inaugural season on Jan. 8, with games airing on ESPN+. The launch of the league will coincide with the start of Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier's Unrivaled 3x3 league, which Parker has said will force the WNBA to take an assessment and see what they can do better.
Given that Parker's daughter Lailaa is a part of the Class of 2027, it will be interesting to see whether or not she winds up joining LOVB someday once she's eligible to turn pro.
