On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm locked horns in Game 2 of their 2024 WNBA playoffs first-round series.
The Aces won 83-76 after leading by 16 points at one stage, setting up an enticing semifinal clash against last year's finals opponents, the New York Liberty.
It was a lopsided affair early in Tuesday's game, but the Storm bounced back to make it close. However, their efforts went in vain against the defending champs, who came out on top in every facet of the game.
Reigning MVP A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum were the architects of the win. The former dropped 24 points and 13 rebounds on 52.9% shooting, while the latter tallied a game-high 29 points on 73.3% shooting.

Seattle Storm vs Las Vegas Aces Game Recap
Las Vegas did a much better job starting Tuesday's clash than in Game 1. The Aces were up 15-4 in the first four minutes, with Wilson scoring seven and Plum dropping five points. Las Vegas also came out swinging out of the Seattle Storm's timeout, taking a 23-7 lead soon after, with Plum, Wilson and Chelsea Gray leading from the front.
The first quarter ended 30-20 in the Aces' favor after the Storm picked up their intensity in the last three minutes. Wilson and Plum combined for 24 points, scoring 12 each. Seattle couldn't do much about Las Vegas' impeccable shooting (66.7% from the floor, including 5-of-6 from 3).
A relatively cold start to the second, with Kelsey Plum and A'ja Wilson on the bench, saw the Storm trim the Aces' double-digit lead down to four (33-29) with 6:39 to go. Seattle benefitted from the free throw disparity, netting all six of their free throw attempts. The Aces only had one.
However, the Storm's comeback didn't last long, with Plum and Wilson returning. The Aces went on a 7-0 run to restore a 10-point lead (39-29). Seattle came out of the timeout and answered the Aces' run with a 9-0 stretch, cutting the lead to one (39-38) with 2:02 left. A 6-0 run helped the Aces restore a five-point lead (43-38) heading into halftime.
The Storm's improved shooting and rebounding helped them keep the Aces on their toes, unlike the lopsided first quarter.
The third quarter mirrored the second. The Seattle Storm looked comfortable with the game slowing down after the Las Vegas Aces' pace bothered them for the majority of the first quarter. Seattle tied the game (49-49) for the first time since making it 2-2 to start the game.
Despite Seattle winning the quarter (19-17), the Aces held a five-point lead entering the fourth quarter (62-57).
It remained a close affair in the fourth. The Storm took the lead for the first time (65-64) two minutes into the final frame. The Aces went on a 6-0 run to take a 71-65 lead, but the Storm kept the pressure on. The margin of error for both teams was minimal, with four points (74-70) separating the Aces from the Storm with four minutes left.
The Aces kept their cool the rest of the way. Tiffany Hayes made it an eight-point advantage with 46 seconds left, which sealed the deal. Las Vegas eventually won 83-76 and advanced to the WNBA 2024 playoff semifinals.
