"She got goddamn DDT'd" - Kevin Garnett credits Caitlin Clark & Angel Reese for highlighting overlooked facets of WNBA

Kevin Garnett has high praise for both Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, two of the best rookies and players in general in the 2024 WNBA season. After several years of battling it out in college, they made it to the pros in April, with Clark being selected by the Indiana Fever and the Reese by the Chicago Sky.

The season has started with ups and downs for these young stars, getting involved in physical altercations that raised some eyebrows around the league. For Garnett, who was used to these situations during his NBA career, getting roughed up is a compliment for Clark and Reese.

"I'm watching shorty, Caitlin Clark go through s**t. Guess what? When you're it, when you got the bullseye on the back, when you're it, it's gonna come with some s**t. Yeah, it's a compliment. Yeah, you're feared," Garnett said in this week's edition of KG Certified.
"It's a sign of respect when ni***s start doing this bulls**t. What she's going through? That's the WNBA. The WNBA is physical. We're starting to see that now. It's chippy."

He also touched on the Angel Reese incident with Alyssa Thomas a couple of weeks ago.

"I don't know if y'all saw. Angel Reese got goddamn DDT'd. She got hit in the head, then DDT'd. All the motherf***er didn't do is pin her for the three," Garnett added.

Moreover, he spoke about what makes Clark a serious threat to the rest of the WNBA.

"Until anybody got a long ball, shut up. She's transcending the game. Nobody's game looks like hers. You know when it's coming, right to left, step back, left. And you can't do s**t about it," Garnett said.

When Paul Pierce claimed that Sabrina Ionescu has a similar game to Clark's KG said it wasn't at the same level.

Matt Barnes compares Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese to legendary NBA duo

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are just starting their careers and are already making some noise within the WNBA. Former NBA champion Matt Barnes likened the two stars to two NBA legends that many consider 'saved' the game many decades ago.

"This Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese thing kind of reminds me, and go with me, a bit of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird," Barnes said. "A Black star, a white star. If you remember, they say Magic and Bird saved basketball. That was the 34th year of the NBA."

Clark and Reese have some way to go to live up to that lofty comparison, but the two have certainly added more attention to the WNBA as young rookies.
