"Shyt looked crazy": NBA champ Kevin Garnett attributes Caitlin Clark's remarkable comeback to Olympic snub
Caitlin Clark returned to the court and led the Indiana Fever to a dominant win over the Phoenix Mercury. The game finished with the home team taking the win, 98-89. The entire game, Mercury was playing catch-up to Fever's score and whenever they started to get hot, Fever also responded accordingly.
Clark competed against Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, and Kahleah Copper, all of whom participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics. NBA star Kevin Garnett commented on Clark's benefit from the Olympic break and wondered if the time off was the adjustment period that many rookies require when they enter the professional ranks.
"What if @CaitlinClark22’s Olympic break was the off season adjustment for the league that @wnba rookies don’t get before their 1st season… shyt looked crazy out there yesterday… 💯 Can tell she was in the film room…" Garnett wrote on X.
Caitlin Clark looked rejuvenated out there last night, scoring 12 points in the first quarter of the game. The young guard played 36 minutes for the Fever, scoring 29 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing 10 assists. She shot 8-for-16 from the field and 4-for-11 from deep. However, she recorded five turnovers, her Achilles heel this season.
Kahleah Copper recorded 32 points and eight rebounds, but the one who stole the show was Clark.
Caitlin Clark joins Michael Jordan and Steph Curry after impressive showing against Mercury
Caitlin Clark keeps adding historic performances to her young but already impressive WNBA career. Following her all-around performance against the Mercury, Clark joined an exclusive club with two of the greatest legends in basketball history.
Her incredible performance put Clark alongside Michael Jordan and Steph Curry as the only three players to record multiple games with 25 points, 10 assists and five rebounds on 70% true shooting. Curry recorded four of these games, while Jordan did it twice.
Like Jordan and Curry, Caitlin Clark is seen as a generational talent. After a rocky start to the season, she adjusted her game, taking the Fever three games away from the .500 mark. If she keeps up the good level, they will reach and surpass that mark in no time.
