Sky owner Dwyane Wade shows love to WNBA legend Candace Parker's touching birthday wish for wife Anna Petrakova
Dwyane Wade and Candace Parker have been great friends, staying connected and involved in each other’s lives. The Miami Heat legend and Chicago Sky co-owner showed love to WNBA legend Parker as she greeted her wife Anna Petrakova in a romantic social media post.
Wade left two heart emojis in the Instagram post, which featured Parker’s candid and sweet side for her wife Petrakova.
“❤️❤️,” Wade commented.
Parker’s post featured numerous sweet snaps with her wife, while wishing her a happy birthday and making her feel loved on her special day.
“Happy Birthday моя женщина! I love you ❤️ actions> words,” Parker wrote in a mix of Russian and English language.
Parker and Petrakova were former teammates in a Russian basketball club, when Parker was playing overseas during the 2012 WNBA offseason.
The two married in 2019 and announced their first child together in 2021, named Airr Larry. In May 2024, they welcomed their second child, Hartt Summitt.
Parker is a three-time WNBA champion and won MVP twice, in 2008 and 2013. In Russia, Parker is a five-time national champion and EuroLeague winner.
Meanwhile, Wade invested in the WNBA by becoming a part-owner of the Chicago Sky in 2023. He was the second ex-NBA player to invest in a WNBA team, following Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson who partially owns the Los Angeles Sparks since 2014.
Candace Parker and Dwyane Wade share a basketball idol
Candace Parker and Dwyane Wade are also connected through the fact that they wear the same number three jerseys, inspired by basketball legend Allen Iverson, whom they idolized growing up.
“I grew up loving Iverson. That’s part of the reason I wear No. 3. My brother got drafted to Philly, so he was on the team. I had the finger No. 3 bands. He gave them to me when I was in junior high. I wore them in high school,” Parker said in Wade’s The Why podcast.
On the other hand, Wade said that Iverson inspired him to overcome life’s struggles as a black man, shaping him into the progressive man he is today.
“I think a lot of people know I wear No. 3, but a lot of people don’t know why I wear No. 3. And so I just wanted to take this moment as an opportunity that is supposed to be about me, and I wanted to be able to shine light and give flowers to individuals that allow me and help me get here,” Wade said in the Hall of Fame ceremony last year.
“Allen Iverson gave me the image of how it looks like, how it could be done coming from the broken community that I came from. So I want to give him his flowers in front of the world because he deserves it,” Wade added.
Wade was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023, while Parker is expected to be inducted in the 2027 class.
