Skylar Diggins-Smith and Arike Ogunbowale celebrate Notre Dame's Niele Ivey's massive milestone

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's basketball team is off to one of the best starts in the country with an 11-2 record through their first 13 games. On Sunday night, Notre Dame took on the Virginia Cavaliers with a historic landmark on the line for coach Niele Ivey.

With the Fighting Irish's 95-54 win over Virginia, Ivey became the fastest coach to reach 100 wins in Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball history. Notre Dame alums and WNBA stars Skylar Diggins-Smith and Arike Ogunbowale celebrated Ivey in the comments of separate Instagram posts.

Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale commented with a fire emoji to react to the landmark. Ogunbowale attended Notre Dame from 2015 to 2019 and was named a two-time All-American.

She led the Irish to a national championship in 2017-18 and finished her collegiate career averaging 17.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

Diggins-Smith attended Notre Dame from 2009-13 and was named to three All-American teams during her time. She earned Big East Player of the Year honors twice and went on to be selected with the No. 3 pick of the 2013 WNBA Draft.

In five years, Ivey has notched up a 100-34 record on her way to becoming the fastest coach to reach 100 wins in conference history.

Olivia Miles helps Notre Dame rout Virginia with historic performance

Along with her head coach, it was also a historic night for senior guard Olivia Miles. In 30 minutes, Miles logged her third triple-double of the season and the sixth of her career.

She registered 11 points, 14 assists, 10 rebounds and two steals on her way to becoming the first player in ACC history with back-to-back triple-doubles.

In her previous game, Miles notched up 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a 97-54 routing of Loyola Maryland.

Hannah Hidalgo led the Irish in scoring a game-high 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win. Senior guard Sonia Citron also impressed with a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double effort, adding four assists, two blocks and a steal.

The No. 3 Fighting Irish will go on the road to play the No. 17 North Carolina Tar Heels for their next matchup, on Jan. 5.
