"So cute but hilarious” "Lmao they’re twins": WNBA fans react to Cameron Brink's candid TikTok video with her mother
LA Sparks rookie Cameron Brink treated fans to a TikTok video featuring her mother, Michelle, which she posted last weekend. In the video, both were wearing jackets and dancing, and fans noted their striking resemblance as they had similar builds and outfits.
The two each showcased their unique moves to Luh Tyler’s “2 Slippery,” but what stood out to fans was how alike they looked in their matching jackets and fitted pants. The video was captioned, “6’5 and up only.”
Fans were surprised by their similarity, with @danaoneika sharing the clip and commenting:
“It’s so cute but hilarious.”
“Lmao they’re twins,” added @SadeRepsEagles.
User @dcoleman626 was also struck by their resemblance, noting:
“The universe really said copy/paste with those two.”
“Her mom looks as young as she does wow,” added @heartofhannah2.
Fans speculated if Michelle Brink, given her height, might have played basketball, and the answer is yes. She had a basketball scholarship during her college years at Virginia Tech.
Here are more reactions to Cameron Brink’s TikTok with her mother:
“She stole her momma's... Everything !! 🤣,” @T_FisherKing said.
“Women carry the tall gene,” said @MissColeWoods.
Cameron Brink’s mother was college roommates with Steph Curry’s mom
Michelle Brink, Cameron’s mother, was college roommates with Sonya Curry, Steph Curry’s mother, at Virginia Tech. That's also where she met Greg Brink, who would become her husband.
Michelle and Greg crossed paths during a pickup game at the school, both being varsity basketball players.
Their college friendship with Sonya developed so strongly that Sonya later became Cameron Brink’s godmother, making the LA Sparks rookie a godsister to Steph Curry.
This close connection was evident at this year’s WNBA Draft, where Cameron Brink was accompanied by her family and Sonya.
The Curry family has influenced Brink’s life both on and off the court, especially Steph Curry, who has offered guidance on shooting techniques.
"She was trying to develop her jumper and I spent a little bit of time with her, gave her some pointers," Curry said (via USA Today). "My dad did as well. But just in terms of your development, you put the work and the time in, every year, you're going to get better. She's taken advantage of that.”
Brink had her rookie season cut short by a left ACL tear. She averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.3 blocks per game before her injury.
