SPOTTED: Caitlin Clark embarks offseason by attending Colts vs Steelers with boyfriend Connor McCaffery and Fever forward
Caitlin Clark was spotted in public for the first time since entering her first WNBA offseason, attending Sunday's Colts-Steelers NFL game with boyfriend Connor McCaffery. Clark's Fever teammate Lexie Hull accompanied the couple. Colts fans at the Lucas Oil stadium gave the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year a round of applause after she appeared on the screen.
Her boyfriend Connor and teammate Lexie joined the crowd in cheering Caitlin, who seemingly became awkward at seeing the reception she got. Here's the video:
Caitlin Clark and her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, also attended the Colts' preseason game against the Cardinals on August 17.
Clark and Hull saw their season end on Wednesday after losing 87-81 to the Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series. Clark put up a fighting 25-point, nine-assist performance, but it wasn't enough to see Indiana prevail and extend the series to bring the Fever's first playoff game back for the home crowd after nine years.
Caitlin Clark got a much-needed break from basketball after nearly playing for 10 consecutive months, with her season starting in November 2024 with the Iowa Hawkeyes. The quick turnaround for her imminent WNBA debut didn't give her much of a break.
The Fever, making the playoffs despite a 1-8 start, further extended Clark's season.
Caitlin Clark reveals offseason plans
Caitlin Clark is planning to stay away from basketball for the foreseeable future. Unlike most WNBA players planning to play overseas or participate in Breanna Stewart's Unrivaled league, Clark won't be doing either. Instead, during the Fever's post-game interviews on Wednesday, the former Iowa star said she plans to try her hand at golf.
"Maybe play some golf," Clark said (h/t Indiana Fever reporter Chloe Peterson on X). "That's what I'm gonna do until it gets cold in Indiana ... I'll become a professional golfer."
Clark played all 40 games in her rookie season, averaging 35.4 minutes a night. Her workload has been immense since the 2023-24 NCAA season started, so understandably, she wishes to take a prolonged break from playing competitive basketball.
Not just that, but Caitlin Clark also had a mentally draining rookie season because of the off-court noise surrounding her fans and their alleged racist behavior against the Fever star's counterparts.
Despite a phenomenal year, the league's top players have seemingly not shown as much support for Clark as the league's other new entrants, which may bothered the rookie sensation on all fronts.
