Watch: Angel Reese sports Dennis Rodman's Pistons jersey ahead of Barbie-themed Sky game vs Fever
Angel Reese is playing a special game tonight. She's closing her regular-season series against Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever, and her team will honor her with a Barbie-themed game. The Chicago Sky and a partnership between Mattel and Athlife will celebrate the first-ever edition of this game tonight.
A special occasion demands a special outfit, and Reese didn't disappoint with her selection. The WNBA's Instagram account shared a video of Reese arriving at Wintrust Arena sporting a Dennis Rodman jersey backward.
"We’re catchin’ your drift Angel Reese. She rebounds and hustles relentlessly like Dennis Rodman, and we’re living for the whole look rockin’ his jersey," they captioned the post.
Reese's WNBA career started this year, but she's already making an impact as a rebounder, leading the league with 12.9 rebounds per game, surpassing established stars such as A'ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.
From Aug. 18 through Aug. 25, Reese had three consecutive games grabbing 20+ rebounds, even becoming the first rookie in the NBA or WNBA since 1993 to record back-to-back 20-rebound games since Shaquille O'Neal did it with the Orlando Magic.
Dennis Rodman won seven rebounding titles during his NBA career, while Reese is only playing her first season in the W. She has a bright future, but it remains to be seen if she makes the same impact as Rodman in her competition.
Sheryl Swoopes heaps high praise on Angel Reese amid remarkable rookie season
Angel Reese keeps getting praise amid her terrific first season in the WNBA. The latest name to join her list of fans was four-time WNBA champion Sheryl Swoopes.
“I wanna see her continue to be a dawg," the three time WNBA MVP said. "She is a dawg! I love the fact that she’s just her. She is unapologetically Angel. She plays hard on both ends of the floor, doesn’t matter what the score is.
"I just love how she’s coming into this league, she’s embraced the bumps, the bruises, she has embraced the good with the bad. I just love watching her play because she plays hard the entire game.”
Angel Reese is a strong candidate to win the 2024 Rookie of the Year award.
