Watch: Caitlin Clark witnesses boyfriend Connor McCaffery in action as Butler Bulldogs assistant
2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark took time out of her offseason schedule to see boyfriend Connor McCaffery in action as a Butler Bulldogs assistant coach.
Unlike Clark, McCaffery chose to coach after his college career at Iowa. He began his journey with the Indiana Pacers before joining the Bulldogs ahead of the NCAA season.
On Friday, as the Bulldogs hosted the Austin Peay Governors at Hinkle Fieldhouse, Clark was spotted in the stands.
During the game, the commentators joked about how Butler must arrange a way to have Clark in the upper rows as she would be swarmed by fans considering her following around Indiana.
"She's gotta stay up there, if she's down here, they'll be swarming her," the announcer said.
It was the second time Caitlin Clark made it to one of Connor McCaffery's Bulldogs games. She was present at his coaching debut against the Missouri State Bears. Butler won that game, 72-65. However, Clark's good luck charm didn't last against the Governors, as Butler lost, 68-66.
When Caitlin Clark expressed how 'proud' she was of Connor McCaffery for landing Butler assistant coaching gig
Connor McCaffery joined the Butler coaching staff under Thad Matta in September, replacing former NBA No. 1 pick Greg Oden. Caitlin Clark was in the middle of her WNBA season back then. She hailed her boyfriend for landing the coaching gig at Butler, expressing how proud she was of the moment.
"Yeah, I'm super excited for him [Connor]," Clark said. "Obviously, his basketball knowledge is pretty good and it makes it fun, like you can bounce ideas off of each other.
"So, yeah I think just super proud. He worked super hard for that. It'll be fun, fun to go to those games. I mean, I love college basketball. Obviously, he's been around it his whole life and really like invested a lot into it."
Clark said she would attend his games. She's doubled down on it by actually doing so. Clark maintained that she would remain loyal to the Iowa Hawkeyes despite adding her boyfriend Connor McCaffery's Butler to the list of teams she roots for in the 2024-25 college basketball season.
