DeWanna Bonner credited daughter for her performance in Game 4
The Minnesota Lynx were one game away from making their first Finals appearance since 2017. They held a 2-1 series advantage coming into Game 4 but DeWanna Bonner and the Connecticut Sun fought to ensure the series would go down to a fifth game.
Bonner had an extra reason to play at a high level. During the Sun's postgame press conference, Bonner said having her daughter in the audience helped her play better.
"My baby girl was in the stands for the first time," Bonner said. "She took my mind off and calmed me down a little bit. Because you get high stress in these situations so having her around was pretty special."
DeWanna Bonner scored 13 of her 18 points in the second half, helping to keep the Lynx at bay in the game's most crucial moments.
Bonner also got plenty of help from her teammates, especially from Tyasha Harris, who led the Sun with 20 points. Alyssa Thomas also showed up for the Sun, tying Bonner in points with 18 while also dishing 11 assists for a double-double.
DiJonai Carrington added 15 points on a 6-for-10 shooting clip. She also joined Bonner as the only other player on the team to record both a steal and a block. In total Carrington had two takeaways and one rejection.
Marina Mabrey also came up big for her team off the bench. Despite not starting, Mabrey was on the court for 34 minutes. She scored 10 points and was the only Sun player to score in double figures off the bench.
