Watch: Sparks stars Rickea Jackson and Rae Burrell dap up Floyd Mayweather postgame after loss to Aces
Floyd Mayweather, arguably the greatest fighter of the last two decades, took in some WNBA action this weekend at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. The boxer is now retired and resides predominantly in Nevada. He was courtside to watch the Las Vegas Aces defeat the Los Angeles Sparks 87-71 on Sunday.
Following the game, Mayweather dapped up Sparks stars Rickea Jackson and Rae Burrell.
Like Mayweather, Jackson was born in Michigan and raised in Detroit. Burrell is a native of Las Vegas, Mayweather's adopted city where he spends most of his time.
Unfortunately for Rickea Jackson and Rae Burrell, Floyd Mayweather's presence at the game could not prevent them from dropping another critical game. The Sparks fell to 6-21 on the year and will need to be at their best over the last 13 games if they hope to have any shot at qualifying for the playoffs.
Led by 34 points from two-time WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson, the Aces cruised to their 17th win of the season. The defending league champions are currently fourth in the standings, 1.5 games behind the Minnesota Lynx.
Legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather has become a regular feature at Las Vegas Aces games
After a successful boxing career where he won 15 world championships and earned some hefty paychecks along the way, Floyd Mayweather now has time to enjoy his other hobbies. The 47-year-old is a regular feature at sporting events in Las Vegas and has attended several Las Vegas Aces games in the last year.
He was at the Aces vs. Chicago Sky game earlier this season, watching rookie star Angel Reese in action.
On Jun. 7, he was in the arena to see the Seattle Storm defeat the Aces 78-65 and met All-Star guard Jewell Loyd.
The WNBA is growing at a phenomenal rate and Mayweather can't get enough of the action. Expect to see more high-profile celebrities at the games as we approach the playoffs in the coming months.
