WNBA All-Stars vs USA Team: Lonzo Ball confidently predicts the outcome of Caitlin Clark vs A'ja Wilson showdown in Phoenix
This weekend, Caitlin Clark and the WNBA All-Stars will compete against A'ja Wilson and the US Women's National Team. The game will headline the WNBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix, while also serving as the final game for the WNBA before the start of the Olympic break.
The highly-anticipated game will not only pit Clark against Wilson, but it will also see the rookie look to get her revenge after being snubbed from Team USA's roster.
At the same time, Clark and fellow rookie star Angel Reese will play on the same team for the first time ever, further adding to the excitement surrounding the game. With plenty of stars on both the All-Star team and the Olympic team, All-Star Weekend has been a hot topic in the NBA community.
This week, while speaking on The WAE Show, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball spoke about the game. In addition to previewing the rosters and discussing his excitement, he also dropped his prediction for how the WNBA All-Stars vs. Team USA showcase will play out.
"I ain't gonna lie. I like that setup. The USA team is about to smack them, but it's gonna be good to see, though. I'm gonna like to see Caitlin Clark play with Angel Reese, though. That's cool. Let me just point this out right now. A'ja Wilson, Taurasi, Brittany Griner, Brianna Stewart, all on one team, come on, bro."
"It'll be fun for all of us" - Caitlin Clark opens up on playing alongside Angel Reese in WNBA All-Star vs. Team USA game
While the opportunity for fans to see the WNBA All-Stars compete against the US Women's National Team is a rare one, much of the focus has been on Caitlin Clark. Since joining the WNBA, Caitlin Clark has been one of, if not the single most, talked about player in the league.
Given that, and the fact that many have felt as though she was snubbed from the Team USA Olympic roster, there has been quite a bit of focus on this being Clark's first All-Star game, and the fact that she will be playing alongside Angel Reese for the first time.
While speaking to media members about the situation, Clark made it clear that she hopes the focus isn't entirely on her and Angel Reese.
“I don’t want it to take away from any of that and just be the focal point of All-Star weekend because that’s not fair to them. And obviously this is something that’s really hard to accomplish.
"The best we can celebrate all of them will be great and I’m just obviously going to soak in the experience because you never know if you’re ever going to be able to get back there. It’ll be fun for all of us, for sure.”
The All-Star Game will tip off at 5:30 PM local time (Phoenix) and 8:30 PM Eastern Time on Saturday, July 12. Below you can see the full rosters for both teams ahead of Saturday's game.
