WNBA legend Candace Parker kisses wife Anna Parker in cozy snaps for cute birthday tribute
WNBA legend Candace Parker might be retired, but the three-time champion still draws plenty of attention from fans. On Wednesday, the two-time Olympic gold medalist took to Instagram and shared four photos where she wished her wife, Anna Parker, a happy birthday.
The two met in 2012 when they were both playing for UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russia during the WNBA offseason. They married in 2019 and had their first child in 2022, and their youngest in 2024.
As they prepare to celebrate their fifth anniversary, they're also celebrating Anna's 40th birthday.
"Happy Birthday, my woman! I love you actions> words," Parker captioned.
Several notable figures also wished Anna a happy birthday, including Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade and UFC fighter Molly McCann.
Candace Parker calls out networks for burying women's basketball until the arrival of Caitlin Clark
While Candace Parker may be retired from basketball, she still works as a desk commentator for TNT. Because she transitioned to broadcasting, the WNBA legend has a unique perspective of the game.
During an appearance on Alex Rodriguez and Jason Kelly's "The Deal" in November, Parker said that her role in retirement is to question, push and encourage as she works to help grow the game of basketball.
She then discussed how networks were "burying" women's basketball until the emergence of Caitlin Clark as an NCAA star.
"ABC, the first time they put the Women's NCAA game on ABC was the first year that Caitlin Clark made the championship game," Parker said. "Are you surprised that the viewership was up? Are you surprised that people actually saw the product? It was buried for so long on ESPN.
"There's so many times during the NCAA game, and even in the WNBA playoffs. The NBA doesn't want to clash with NFL playoffs or NFL opening week. So why would we then put the WNBA? I don't care if that's the time slot that they're giving you. Let's fight for another one or let's find something else."
The Women's National Basketball Players Association has opted out of its Collective Bargaining Agreement ahead of the 2025 season as players look to earn more.
While Candace Parker hasn't discussed the situation, as we get closer to the 2025 season and with the possibility of a lockout, only time will tell whether she weighs in.
