WNBA legend Candace Parker showers praise on niece Naomi Parker's 1000-point milestone
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as WNBA legend Candace Parker's niece, Naomi Parker, scored her 1,000th career point on Friday. The High School Class of 2025 member, who plays guard for Steinbrenner High Lutz, is preparing to make the jump to the NCAA at the end of this high school season.
In a post on her Instagram story, the three-time WNBA champ and 2016 WNBA Finals MVP congratulated her niece on her career achievement.
"Look who hit 1000 tonight!!! So proud of my niecey poo @naomiparker3 1k!!"
According to her NCSASports page, Naomi Parker started for her high school team as a freshman, while splitting time with Candace Parker's AAU travel basketball team, Candace Parker Hoop Dreams Elite during the 2021 season. She then switched to play for Essence Girls Basketball in 2023 on the AAU circuit.
Candace Parker's daughter is crushing it on the volleyball court in addition to her niece crushing it in basketball
While Parker's niece, Naomi Parker, is crushing it on the volleyball court, the WNBA legend's oldest daughter, Lailaa Williams, is crushing it on the volleyball court.
Earlier this month, Parker's daughter was named as a member of the D4 Southern Section All-CIF volleyball team for their region. With the high school standout already competing at a high level in high school volleyball, it seems like she's likely to make the jump to NCAA volleyball when the time comes.
Given that her daughter Lailaa is a competitive volleyball player, and her niece Naomi looks poised to follow in her footsteps on the basketball court, Parker knows a thing or two about watching youth sports.
In response to LeBron James' wife, Savannah, posting a clip of her daughter Zhuri playing volleyball last month, Parker wrote:
"Welcome to being a volleyball mom! It’s not for the weak—early starts always."
Of course, as we saw earlier this year, Parker is also taking time to train Kobe Bryant's youngest daughter Bianka on the basketball court as well. Given that the WNBA legend had trained with Bryant during her career, she's now paying it forward as Bianka learns the game.
