"Y'all believed him then, better believe his a*" now": Natasha Cloud doesn't hold back on Elon Musk’s Trump tariff recession claim amid public feud
Natasha Cloud is thriving in her first year with the New York Liberty. The veteran guard has been a big part of the team's 8-0 start to the season. However, she has not backed down from voicing her opinion on issues bigger than basketbal throughout her career. Her latest comments on Elon Musk's dire claim on Donald Trump's tarriffs display her bold take on the world, both on and off the court.
The former Saint Joseph's standout has been in the WNBA since the Washington Mystics picked her in the second round of the 2015 draft. A decade later, she is a WNBA champion and has three appearances on an All Defensive team. When she joined the 2024 champions in the offseason, fans complained that the richer were just getting richer, and they were right.
Cloud responded to a post on Saturday morning that Musk but onto his X page Friday afternoon. In the original post, Musk warned that Trump's tarriffs on imports from around the world will put the U.S. into a recession in the second half of 2025. The Liberty guard responded, backing up Musk's claim and telling people to take his words seriously.
"I (don't) wanna hear s*** about him being on ketamine now," Cloud said. "Yall believed him then, better believe his a** now. I don’t like this man. But we do know he knows f****** money."
Musk and Trump have been engaged in a public fued for the last week surrounding a new tax bill that Trump endorsed. Over the last three days, Musk has made Trump's comments on government spending and how much he dislikes the current plan. The owner of X and Tesla used to be an ally of Trump, supporting him as he ran for office last year, but now appears to stand against him.
The 5-foot-10 guard is one of many people to share their opinions on the conflict between the two giants on social media. This is not the first time that the Liberty guard has spoken out against Trump this season, either.
Natasha Cloud bashed Trump supporters over gas prices
Earlier this season, Cloud voiced her thoughts on the increase in gas prices, calling out Trump voters when they claimed that gas in the U.S. cost them $1.98 a gallon.
After a fan responded, telling her that the lower price was only for wholesale buyers, the WNBA star posted her response.
"Wholesale prices of gas may be $1.98 but what these billionaires turn around and do is charge us 2x , 3x the amount," Cloud said. "It’s really not that hard. Yall really voted on some hateful ass basis. It NEVER made sense for ALL of us economically."
Cloud is focused on helping the Liberty secure back-to-back WNBA championships, but the veteran guard has never backed down when it comes to her stance on politics. Her input on the fued between Musk and Trump is just the latest chapter in her history of commenting on U.S. politics.
