Pic: Cameron Brink and boyfriend Ben Felter strike a pose with CEO of Brooklyn Nets' energy drink partner
LA Sparks star Cameron Brink and her boyfriend Ben Felter struck a pose with Mubarak Malik, the CEO of Brooklyn Nets' energy drink partner, Barcode. Malik took to Instagram to share the snap on his story on Saturday, which both Brink and Felter reshared.
Cameron Brink and Ben Felter reportedly started dating in March 2021 when they were together at Stanford University. Both of them were student-athletes with Brink being a basketball star while her boyfriend was on the Stanford rowing team. Felter was a two-time Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association scholar-athlete, and also on the honor roll throughout college.
Cameron Brink speaks about her transition from college basketball to WNBA
During a recent interview with CNBC at the Game Plan summit in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Cameron Brink spoke of her transition from being a collegiate-level star at Stanford to becoming a professional player in the WNBA. Brink was declared out for the remainder of her rookie season after she suffered an ACL injury in June. She highlighted the toll it took on her body:
"It's really hard, I think going straight from the college season to the draft, which is really tiresome but amazing...it's a lot and I think a lot is demanded of our bodies," Brink said.
Brink further shared advice for rookies:
"Once rookies can get past that first year of that difficult mileage on their bodies, I feel like the next year will be a lot easier." Brin said. "My best advice to rookies coming in is just take care of your body and mental because it's really tiresome."
Cameron Brink played 15 games in her rookie season before being ruled out because of her injury. The second overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft averaged 7.5 points,5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 2.3 blocks in the games while shooting 39.8% from the field.
Brink was also slated to be a part of Team USA's 3x3 women's basketball team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which eventually went on to clinch the bronze medal in the event.
In Brink's absence, the LA Sparks failed to secure a berth in the playoffs, slotting in last in the league's standings with a 7-30 record, currently on a six-game losing streak. However, there may be a silver lining as the team now has the best odds to bag the No.1 pick for the 2025 WNBA Draft.
