5 Agents with the lowest pick rate at VCT Masters Shanghai
VCT Masters Shanghai was one of the most historic events in Valorant esports. After a long time, the Pacific region was finally able to get their hands on an international trophy. Gen.G went through many hurdles to get their region the first-ever Masters trophy.
While there were some Agent changes done prior to the event, they didn't affect the team compositions majorly. The pros went with their usual choices for each series and found a decent amount of impact. However, there were many Agents that didn't get used as much as the others. Below is a list of five such Agents that had the lowest pick rate in VCT Masters Shanghai.
Agents with the lowest pick rate during VCT Masters Shanghai
1) Clove
Clove is the latest Controller Agent released in Valorant. They have a very unique design as they are the first Agent who can resurrect themselves. Clove also has the Pick-me-up ability, which is essentially like Reyna's Devour that allows them to overheal and act like a secondary Duelist.
Despite their unique design, Clove did not see the spotlight as often during VCT Masters Shanghai. They were only used by one team, China's FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) in the entire event and thus had a pick rate of only 2%. FPX's Life was the pro that played as Clove in this event and had difficulties finding proper impact with their abilities.
2) Iso
Iso is the most recent Duelist Agent that was added in Valorant. His abilities, Contingency and Double Tap, allow him to become somewhat of a tank as they can absorb damage and help scale up. However, his most useful ability is easily the Undercut as it makes enemies vulnerable to damage.
Unfortunately, Iso had a 0% pick rate in VCT Masters Shanghai. So far, his abilities have paled in comparison to the traditional Duelist Agents like Jett, Raze, and even Reyna. However, the patch 8.11 does bring some interesting changes to his Double Tap that have made him look a bit viable as a secondary Duelist. Only time will tell if he can be picked in future global events.
3) Deadlock
Deadlock is the most recent Sentinel Agent released in Valorant. With her abilities, players can potentially anchor sites by themselves, however, they also allow her to be a little more aggressive. Deadlock's most useful abilities are easily the GravNet and Barrier Mesh as they significantly slow down enemies' executes into a site.
VCT Masters Shanghai saw Deadlock have a pick rate of 0% as well. Despite some changes made to her Barrier Mesh and Sonic Sensor, she has yet to be picked on the global stage. Deadlock has only been picked a handful of times in the 2024 season, most notably by Evil Geniuses' jawgemo during the Americas Kickoff and Fnatic's Alfajer in VCT EMEA Stage 1. This is quite tragic as this Agent has been out for almost a whole year.
4) Neon
Neon is the fastest Duelist Agent in Valorant. Her abilities allow her to speedily enter a site and make space for her team. Neon is also somewhat of a pseudo Initiator as she can concuss enemies at the start using her Relay Bolt. She also requires good movement from players to be effective.
Sadly, Neon was another Agent at VCT Masters Shanghai that had a 0% pick rate. She suffered from the same problem as Iso wherein her abilities just paled in comparison to Jett, Raze, and Reyna. However, with buffs in patch 8.11 and the return of Haven in the map pool, Neon's chances of being picked on the global stage again have increased a lot more.
5) Phoenix
Phoenix has existed in the game since the game's beta stage and comes under the Duelist category. With his abilities, players can initiate duels a little easier due to the Curveball and Blaze. His ultimate, Run-it-Back continues to be his most impactful ability as it can help scale up into a site and get information on enemies' locations.
Despite being one of the mainstays of the early Valorant esports scene, Phoenix's has suffered heavily when it comes to the pick rate in recent events. In VCT Masters Shanghai, he ended up with a pick rate of 0%. His inability to scale quickly into areas of maps remains to be a big problem.
