How to block players in Valorant
Valorant patch 9.06 came with a bunch of bug fixes, but most importantly, you can now block players in the game. Riot has finally given the community a way to deal with toxicity, and it's quite effective. We finally have the long-awaited "block" option in the game that stops all types of communication, and it works exactly as intended.
Valorant, being a competitive FPS game, is often filled with toxic players who ruin the overall experience. For a long time, the only available option was to mute someone. However, with the introduction of the block feature, addressing this issue is now just one click away.
This article will explain what the new "block" option in the game does and how to go about using it.
Steps to block players in Valorant
The process of blocking players in Valorant is quite simple. It has been added as a direct option when you hover over someone’s name. Moreover, if someone has already sent you a friend request, you can directly block them instead of accepting or declining.
Follow these steps to block players in the game:
- Step 1 - Open the game and head over to your friend list on the right-hand side of your game.
- Step 2 - Hover your mouse over the player that you want to block
- Step 3 - Click on the "Block Player" option from the drop-down menu.
- Step 4 - Click on "Block" to confirm your action from the window that pops up.
When you block players you stop the following direct communications:
- Text
- Voice
- Invites
Additionally, you can block players by hovering over their names from recent matches you've played, under your "Career" tab.

Can you unblock people in Valorant?
The presence of a block feature in the game must mean there is a process to unblock as well. However, in Valorant's current version, this does not seem to be the case. This might be a bug that can be expected to be fixed soon.
When unblocking eventually arrives, you can expect it to be in the game under "General" tab in Settings. It is also speculated that you can block and unblock players through the Riot mobile app in the near future.
