florescent set to play in VCT 2025, signed by Apeks
Ava "florescent" Eugene has joined Apeks for the VCT 2025 season. The Norwegian esports organization confirmed her addition to their 2025 VCT roster through an X post on December 5, 2024. The two-time Game Changers Championship winner will be the first GCC player to compete in a Tier-1 Valorant tournament.
florescent is a Vietnamese-Canadian Valorant player who started her career in June 2022 with Misfits Black. She has played for big names like Version1 and Shopify Rebellion. Under the latter's banner, she won the GCC twice — beating Team Liquid in 2023 and MIBR in 2024. She was also declared the MVP of the tournament on both occasions.
Apeks defeated PCIFIC Espor in the 2024 EMEA Ascension Grand Final, to confirm its slot in the VCT EMEA League for 2025 and 2026.
florescent joins Apeks and becomes the first player to move from the GCC to the VCT ahead of the 2025 season
florescent will start the VCT 2025 season as part of the Apeks squad, where she is likely to be the replacement for Kajetan "kaajak" Haremski. A Duelist player of the highest skill level, she has proved her mettle in the Game Changers circuit over the last three years.
In an interview with her former teammate, Melanie "meL" Capone, florescent said she wasn't thinking about the pressure that would come with participating in Tier 1 and that she was simply excited to play.
This can be considered a somewhat historic moment, as the men's and women's competitions in Valorant have always remained separate. florescent joining Apeks for VCT 2025 breaks this pattern, potentially opening up avenues for other players in the future.
Leo Faria, Global Head of Valorant Esports, congratulated florescent and Apeks on this move. He said:
"Creating a separate sport for women was never the goal. Game Changers was always meant to be a stepping stone, a place for players to hone their skills, to be seen, and eventually be given an opportunity in the main circuit. We know it'll take a long time to achieve this vision, and there's a chance we'll never be done, but seeing it starting to materialize is very special."
The Apeks Valorant team as it stands right now, consists of the following members:
- Tautvydas "hype" Paldavicius
- Michał "MOLSI" Łącki
- Auni "AvovA" Chahade
- Ava "florescent" Eugene
- Sabína "Leonieahh" Jankovič (Manager)
- Danail "DANNYTO" Sofroniev (Head coach)
florescent and the rest of the Apeks team will compete against the likes of Fnatic, Team Heretics, NAVI, and Team Liquid in the EMEA League of VCT 2025.
