Valorant Champions 2024 has been delivering some exciting matches so far. This initial phase of the event has seen top-tier performances that certainly lived up to our expectations. Currently, the 16 teams from the four franchised leagues are playing in Group Stage to try and secure their Playoff spots.

Day 3 ended with a matchup between China's number-three seed Trace Esports and EMEA's number-two seed Team Vitality. The Best-of-three (Bo3) series was evenly matched, where both teams won on their map picks. Eventually, Trace Esports won the final map and got the 2-1 victory.

Sportskeeda Esports' Sneh Jadhav got the chance to talk to Trace Esports' heybay during the post-match conference for his perspective.

"I am super excited"

Trace Esports' heybay talks about his win against Team Vitality in Valorant Champions 2024

Trace Esports have performed amazingly in their region throughout the 2024 season. However, the team always just barely missed out on international events. In Stage 2, they looked just as good as the previous events and effortlessly qualified for the 2024 Champions event.

In their first international match against Team Vitality, Trace Esports had quite a hot start and a win on the first map, Ascent. Later, Vitality equalized by winning the second map, Sunset, which put all eyes on the final map, Bind.

On Bind, Vitality ended up with an advantage over their opponents in the first half. Things looked tough for Trace Esports, but they bounced back strong and completely dominated the second half to close the series with a 2-1 win. This makes Trace Esports the fourth Chinese Valorant team to secure victory at an international event.

Sportskeeda Esports' asked Trace Esports' heybay about his experience after playing on the big stage and joining the group of Chinese teams that have earned themselves a win at the global level. Here's what he had to say:

"I think I am super excited you know about this best of three. We just missed a lot of chances (before) at international tournaments but we just grabbed this chance and that's all."

With this win, Trace Esports will move on in the Group Stage of Valorant Champions 2024. Their next opponent will be Americas' Leviatán where both teams will compete for the Playoffs spot.
