"It's just a frustrating game to be a part of"- Fnatic's Boaster after their loss against Sentinels at Valorant Champions 2024 (Exclusive)
Valorant Champions 2024 is approaching its end. The remaining four teams have advanced through the Group Stage and the initial phase of the Playoffs and made it to the bigger arena. Now, they'll compete directly for the championship trophy in front of a larger audience.
Day 15 started with an intense match between EMEA's Fnatic and Americas' Sentinels. The Bo3 (Best-of-three) was an evenly matched one as both teams won on their map picks. However, Sentinels dominated the decider map, Lotus, closing the series by a 2-1 scoreline.
In the post-match conference, Sportskeeda Esports' Sneh Jadhav got the chance to talk to Fnatic's IGL (In-game Leader), Boaster during which he said:
"It's just a frustrating game to be a part of."
Fnatic's Boaster talks about the defeat on the decider map, Lotus against Sentinels in Valorant Champions 2024
Fnatic has always been one of the strongest teams in the EMEA region. However, 2024 has been a tough year for them to live up to that reputation. While they were able to put up brilliant performances in the regional events, they struggled significantly in international competitions throughout the season.
In their match against Sentinels during Valorant Champions 2024, Fnatic put up a great performance in the first two maps. However, things slipped in the final map, Lotus, as they struggled to put up rounds on the board. The second half of Lotus only saw them win a total of two rounds, which eventually contributed to their loss.
During the post-match conference, Sportskeeda Esports approached Fnatic's Boaster to ask him about what according to him allowed things to go sideways for his team towards the end of the first half of Lotus. Here's what he said:
"Lotus defense was a bit of a frustrating one. We got like man advantages in some of those rounds especially on the bonus and I think the next round after that. We had a nice Raze ult eco as well. It could have gone either way. That's just Valorant, I think. It's just a frustrating game to be a part of."
The IGL mentioned further:
"And it can happen you know, the score line says one thing but our defense I think should have been reversed in terms of how many rounds we got and how many rounds they got. Because we were in the right places par two rounds I would say. But yeah it is what it is. I am not gonna beat myself up about it. I already had a pretty dog event so. What I say is if someone is having a dog event, you are not gonna win it so."
With this defeat, Fnatic was eliminated from the competition, securing a 5th-6th place in the global event.
