Paper Rex release Monyet to explore options with a new VCT team
Paper Rex has officially parted ways with Monyet. The player joined the organization's Valorant roster back in September 2023 and played with team PRX for VCT Pacific 2024 kickoffs as well as Masters Madrid. The team secured third place in the international LAN contest, which was won by NA team Sentinels. Now, after winning the VCT Pacific Stage 1 playoffs, Paper Rex has announced Monyet's departure from the organization.
Initially, the organization reported that Cahya "Monyet" Nugraha had been allowed to explore options with other organizations and was a reserve player for the team for the time being. However, the player has already found space in Team RRQ.
Monyet leaves Paper Rex to join Team RRQ
PRX thanked Monyet for helping take the team to the third position during Valorant Masters Madrid. The organization also showcased gratitude towards the player for streaming the team's games during VCT Pacific Stage 1 and garnering regional support.
The organization also reported that Monyet was personally looking forward to being an active player to compete. However, for PRX, he was only on the reserve roster, ready to fill in gaps in case of emergencies. This desire for active participation prompted the organization to allow him to explore options.
Harley “dsn” Örvall, the Chief Gaming Officer of Paper Rex complimented Monyet on the organization's X handle:
"We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have a player like him on our reserve roster. However, Cahya has also expressed his deep desire to actively compete again, and Paper Rex wants to allow him to explore opportunities.”
Soon, Team RRQ reported rejoining forces with the player. However, the team was not able to make it to Masters Shanghai during the Stage 1 VCT Pacific matches. This means Monyet will most likely make an appearance on the team's roster playing during Stage 2.
Before PRX, Monyet was playing with Indian team Global Esports where he spent a reasonable amount of time playing for almost a year between 2022-2023. He then transferred to PRX, but once Jinggg returned, Monyet was made a reserve player for the team.
Jingg is now on the official roster playing primarily on Duelists like Raze. Monyet used to occasionally play the same agent and fulfill the duelist role for the team. He also played as controllers such as Omen and Astra.
